U4U is an official 501c3 nonprofit that financially and emotionally supports the education of destitute children in Northern Uganda through the empowerment of global youth. U4U sponsors 74 students, ranging from Primary 2 all the way to University. Their sponsorship covers tuition and fees, books, a uniform and shoes, medical, and the cost of their mentor. Every person in Uganda has been affected by the 25 year long civil war that ended in 2007, in one way or another. Our Ugandan staff has selection criteria that assists in the decision making process to ensure we support the most destitute parents. Our students could be HIV+, orphans, or dropped out of school in the past, among other realities. The 3 Ugandan mentors we have ensure the success of our students through home visits and programming, supporting them along the way.
What makes U4U special? Almost all of our funding is raised by high school students through out the greater Cincinnati area. Our student leaders in the US conduct fundraisers, raise awareness about the issues in Uganda, and attend city wide events. U4U empowers globally minded citizens who are empowered by the power of an education.
